The Dovecot, Bulford

Local attractions

The Dovecot has easy access to several major roads which makes it an ideal base for visiting many attractions in Wiltshire as well as further afield.

As well Stonehenge and Salisbury, Longleat, Stourhead and many National Trust properties are all within easy reach. As is Avebury which, together with Stonehenge, are our two local World Heritage Sites.

Winchester, the ancient capital of England, with its magnificent cathedral and Winchester College, the oldest public school in the country, is well worth a visit.

The New Forest, famous for its wandering ponies, and home of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, will provide a fascinating day’s excursion for the whole family.

And, for those wishing to go slightly further, 75-90 minutes will take you to any of the following:

Bath - an 18th century spa city and architectural gem
    Oxford - ancient university city
Windsor - with its historic royal castle
Portsmouth - and its dockyard housing Nelson’s Victory and the Mary Rose
The Dorset Coast - which has the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site
........or why not take a day trip to the Isle of Wight

    ............ the choice is endless!

Not forgetting, of course, the lions at Longleat
