Bourne Valley

- The Malet Arms, Newton Tony SP4 0HF (01980 629279) Free house with local beer and very good interesting menu. Open daily.
Upper Avon Valley
- The Swan, Enford SN9 6DD (01980 670338) This free house is owned by the village and has great atmosphere, imaginative menu and local beer. Open daily
- The Red Lion, East Chisenbury SN9 6AQ (01980 671124) Ancient thatched pub with modern interior. Free house offering good food. Closed Monday evening.
Woodford Valley
- The Black Horse, Great Durnford SP4 6AY (01722 782270) Lively pub with extensive menu and a large children’s play area. CV
- The Wheatsheaf, Lower Woodford SP4 9NQ (01722 782203) Large attractive pub with extensive dining areas and a children’s play area. Open daily. CV
Near Stonehenge
- The Boot, Berwick St James SP3 4TN (01722 790243) Close to Stonehenge and A303. Good standard pub food plus extensive vegetarian menu. Great garden for lunches. Closed Sunday & Monday evenings. V
- The Maldives, Larkhill SP4 8PY (01980 654666) Forget the military surroundings — this is probably the best Indian restaurant outside of Salisbury. Open daily.

- At Solstice Park, Amesbury, next to A303 there are a Harvester pub, a Pizza Hut and a KFC, all within a mile of The Dovecot. CV

Evenings

- The Haunch of Venison, Silver Street SP1 1TB (01722 322024) 14th Century pub with quaint bar plus upstairs restaurant serving bar food.
- The Lemon Tree, 92 Crane Street SP1 2QD (01722 333471) Attractive conservatory restaurant serving good food. Attractive walled garden for lunch.
Lunches
- The Cathedral Refectory SP1 2EJ. Conservatory-style building within the Cathedral precinct, with great views of the spire through the glass roof.
- Polly’s Tearooms. St Thomas’ Square SP4 7DL. Behind Carwardines. Good home-baked fare, and yummy cakes!
